Sinterklaas, a curious Dutch tradition

Sinterklaas is a bishop, who according to Dutch tradition lives in Spain. He visits The Netherlands every year in November. On the 5th of December all children receive presents from him.

He visits the school every year and brings two very clever helpers, named Piet. The children from 4 to 8 get a present. The older children make something for eachother from cardboard, plaster or whatever. They hide a present in it and make a poem for eachother.

I know it looks and sounds very ridiculous, but we all have great fun!!
Just look at the video and be amazed.

FLORIS V , FAMOUS DUTCH KNIGHT

Our knight paid a visit to our school and showed everyone how to put on his armour

Children had to help him, because his knight's page wasn't with him. They asked him a lot of questions in Dutch, he could not answer them in English. He told us he could talk Old Dutch and Latin, but he never had to learn English.

We had an interesting and great afternoon.

Logo competition

All the children from year 5 to 8 did their best to design the logo of our project.

The children's jury finally selected three from Yoek (year 6) and Elise and Dayenne from year 8.

They received a lot of votes in the final competition in Poland, but the children chose a logo from Italy as the winner
